Mr. Stephen Ramsumair Seepersad was born on February 15th 1929 in Tunapuna. He receieved his early education at the Tunapuna Presbyterian School and began his teaching career there as a pupil teacher. In 1953 he enter Naparima Training College forteachers, and after his graduation in 1955, he was appointed as Teacher 1 to Curepe Presbyterian School. In September 1957 he enter Mount Allison University in Canada from where he gradiated with a B.A. in English, Psychology and History in 1960.
On his return to Trinidad in 1960 Mr. Seepersad was appointed to Hillview College as Teacher 2. He taught for one and a half years then was awarded a Government Scholarship to the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica to pursue a course for the Diploma in Education. He returned to Hillview in 1961 where over the years he has served as Form Master, Sports Master, Teacher of English Language, Literature, Religious Knowledge, French and History. He also served as Assistant Dean and Dean of Discipline, Dean of Studies. He was appointed Vice Principla in June 1969 and reached the ***** of his career in June 1975 when he was appointed Principal of Hillview College.
Mr. Seepersad has also been very active in the work of the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad. He is as present a member of two Church Boards and a member ofthe Synod of the Church. His community work involves being a founding member and Vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of the El Dorado Consumer's Co-Operative.
Mr. Seepersad is married to the former Berla Vester Bharath. He is the father of two children. His daughter Mavis is a qualified Pharmarist and his son Neil is studying for an Accountancy Degree in London, England.
We wish at this time, to recognise Mr. Seepersad's outstanding and dedicated contribution to the field of Education. After twenty-eight year at Hillview, we pray that God will bless him, and his family, and grant thim the long life and peace to enjoy his well deserved retirement.
